The Conch shell horn is one of the oldest of instruments and is used in many cultures around the world. They're played similarly to other horns, by blowing in one end. The sound has a strong fundamental note along with five strong harmonic overtones and more microtones. There is a long history of their ceremonial use and some cultures considered it to be the sound of creation or of the divine. The sound resonates deep within us on all levels.
These natural shells are individually unique, though the fundamental notes can be similar. Each one is carefully crafted to ensure a clear tone and amiable to different playing styles and techniques. You can move your hand inside the shell to modulate the pitch. Each shell is fitted with a lanyard or rope weave for ease of carrying.
