IN THE KEY OF C WITH A 13 TONE CHROMATIC SCALE KEYBOARD TUNED TO 440
The Shruti box is a traditional Indian instrument that is similar to a harmonium as it works on a system of bellows but uses switches instead of keys in order to control the pitch. Shruti boxes are used to produce a drone to play over during a practice session, or a concert. Singers often use it as an accompaniment during improvisation sessions. The Shruti box is enjoying a renaissance in the West amongst traditional and contemporary musicians who are using it for a range of different styles.
On the front, it has 12 valves to control the pitch. 12"H x 16"W x 2.5"D
Our Shrutis have the longest sustaining tone and have been selected to be the top sounding tool to work with. We carefully sample each individual box and pay special attention to capture the unique character of a Shruti Box which can be described as rough and vibrant. Comes with black, carrying case.
